Mercury Intermedia, Formerly Mercury Sports, Unveils New Name, Identity, Website

BRENTWOOD, Tennessee—April 14, 2008—Mercury Intermedia, formerly MercurySports, unveiled it’s new name, along with a new identity and website. “As we’ve continued to expand our market presence, it’s become clear that we are growing into areas outside of sports. For this reason, we’ve chosen a name that better fits the direction of our company,” said CEO Bill Tallent. “Of course, sports will still be an integral part of our company, with our valuable relationships with NFL and NCAA teams and Sports Illustrated.”

The new website also introduces an expanded roster of desktop display techniques, adding floating windows, sidebar applications, and notification windows to their screensaver and desktop toolbar solutions.

In February, Mercury Intermedia developed and launched a Honda-sponsored standalone desktop swimsuit calendar in conjunction with Sports Illustrated's annual Swimsuit Issue.

In March, Mercury Intermedia released an updated version of the Sports Illustrated mySI desktop application, with a redesigned navigation, new features, and a platform upgrade that improves performance. Since it’s launch, mySI desktop has generated millions of sponsor impressions for marketers such as Nissan, Circuit City, Finish Line, Comcast, Dodge, AT&T, HP, Miller, and Radio Shack, among others. In addition, the product has achieved millions of hours of engagement with its installed users.
